ERIE, Pa. (AP) – Kenny Perez’s single in the top of the eighth inning drove in Sean McGowan for the winning run as the Portland Sea Dogs snapped the Erie SeaWolves’ four game winning streak, 10-9.
Perez game-winning hit, his fourth straight and fourth RBI, followed McGowan’s RBI double to dead center that tied the score and helped make a loser of Rick Palma.
George Lombard had four hits, including a two-run, inside-the-park homer, and drove in three runs for the Sea Dogs (34-38).
Mike O’Keefe also hit a solo home run.
David Espinosa hit a two-run homer to give the SeaWolves (40-30) a 9-8 lead in the sixth, but the Wolves could not hold the lead. Joe Nelson pitched two scoreless innings for the win.
Neither starter faired well. Erie’s Kenny Baugh gave up six runs on 11 hits in five innings, and Portland’s Charlie Zink seven runs (three earned) on eight hits over five innings.
