BRUNSWICK – “Pooh and Friends,” based on A. A. Milne’s children’s classic book “Winnie-the-Pooh,” will open Thursday, July 8, at The Theater Project, 14 School St.

The six performances will be at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, July 8, 9, 15 and 16; and at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10 and 17.

The play, directed by Lee K. Paige, is part of The Theater Project’s Summer Family Fun Series.

“Pooh and Friends” is a community collaboration between six adults from the greater Brunswick community, plus eight members of The Theater Project Young Company, Jennifer Crosby, Lauren Cross, Joe Faustine, Emily Field, Rozzie Hayden, Kala Hoke, Morgan Moore and Jon Wertheim.

The adults, Forrest Lowe, Don Weatherbee, Charlotte Agell, Anne Olivo, Al Miller and Phyllis Fuchs, will take turns narrating the production.

The stage manager is Molly Haley, a recent graduate of Brunswick High School. The set is by Jacqueline McKeon, costumes are by Wendy Poole and lights by Deb Puhl.

The director said, “Wonderful characters are taking shape from this talented cast. We’re working on finding the human essence of each character – disguised as animals. We will also interact with the audience – bringing onto the stage one young person from the audience each show to play a small part.”

Admission for all performances is pay-what-you-want (with a suggested price of $6).

For reservations, people can call the box office, 729-8584, or e-mail boxoffice@theaterproject.com. The Theater Project’s Web site is www.theaterproject.com.
