PENSACOLA, Fla. – Jacqueline Anita (LaChance) McVey, 69, of Lewiston, died peacefully at her daughter’s home in Pensacola, Fla., on Saturday, June 5.

She was born in Auburn, on Jan. 16, 1935, the daughter of Albert LaChance and Marie Ange Bolduc. She grew up in Lewiston, where she attended St Mary’s Catholic School during her early childhood and developed her strong Catholic roots from the Sisters of Charity. She attended Saints Peter and Paul Church in Lewiston.

Her early marriage to Curtis A. McVey Sr., an Army helicopter pilot, took her from her hometown of Lewiston and allowed her the opportunity to travel to Germany and many other U.S. military bases. She spent years of military life at Fort Sill, Okla., Fort Campbell, Ky., Fairbanks, Alaska, Fort Benning, Ga., and Fort Rucker, Ala., where they developed lifelong friendships with other military couples. She had three children during her marriage to Curtis.

Her second marriage took her back to her roots in Lewiston. She enjoyed spending time with her family in Old Orchard Beach, where she loved to vacation and eat her favorite food, Maine lobster. She spent many years working with her family in their hotel business in Lewiston. She and her second husband and fourth child lived in Lewiston, and Brockton, Mass.

In recent years, her greatest pleasure came from living in Florida, and spending time with her family. She enjoyed her quiet life spending time reading and caring for her beloved schnauzer, “Lady.”

She is survived by her four children, Linda Parks, Curtis A. McVey Jr., Deborah Hughes and husband, Michael and Michael McVey and wife, Kelly; two brothers, Raymond LaChance and wife, Claire and Marc LaChance; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Duke, Leah Laster, Jennifer McVey, Jacob McVey, Evan McVey and Chase McVey; great-grandchild, Madeline Dezern; nephew, Keith LaChance and wife, Tiffany and daughter, Chelsea; five nieces, Tina Morris and husband, Shawn, Donna Prescott and husband, Ralph, Sandra Nadeau and husband, Mike, Sonya LaChance and Susan Levesque and her beloved pet and companion, “Lady.”

She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Doris and her lifelong bestfriend, Germaine Gilman, who she dearly missed.
