LEWISTON – Announcement is made of the engagement of Nicole Ida Roy and John Curtis Speed, both of Rockland.

Miss Roy is the daughter of Patsy Roy of Lewiston and Arnold Roy of Turner. She is a graduate of Leavitt Area High School and attended the University of Southern Maine. She is employed at U.S. Cellular in Rockland.

Mr. Speed is the son of Linda Lessor of Buxton and David Speed of Islesboro. He is a graduate of Hermon High School and attended the University of Southern Maine. He is employed at Dark Harbor Boatyard on 700 Acres Island in Islesboro.

A Sept. 4 wedding is planned.
