BRUNSWICK – Mr. Stanley W. Schultz Sr., 75, formerly of Sudbury and Maynard, Mass. and currently of Harpswell, passed away Thursday, June 24, at the Mid Coast Senior Health Center.
He was born in Canton, Ohio March 16, 1929 the son to Stanley M. and Margaret Wolf Schultz. He spent his teenage years in Birmingham, Ala. and his grandparents lived in Lisbon Falls, where he spent much time through the years. On Feb. 3, 1951, he married Margaret (Nee Lindquist) in Birmingham, Ala. After his service to his country with the U.S. Air Force, he and his wife moved in New England where he worked 16 years for Monroe Calculating Machine Company in Connecticut. He then moved to Massachusetts where he worked for Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard, Mass. After he retired from Digital, he was a Real Estate Broker for 8 years before retiring to his home in Harpswell.
From early childhood he had a love for brass instruments and all his life he shared this love of music as he played in many musical organizations. He played Euphonium for over 20 years with Bands in Maynard and Concord, Mass. Most recently in Maine he played with the Kora Shrine Band, the Bath Municipal Band, the Westbrook City Band and the Portland Commandery Band.
He was a 41 year member of Brainard Lodge NO. 102, AF & AM, Niantic, Conn.; Charles A. Welch Lodge, Maynard, Mass.; Ancient York Lodge No. 155 Lisbon Falls; Union Chapter NO. 7, RAM (Royal Arch Masons) Stonington, Conn.; Cushing Council #4, RTSM (Royal and Select Masons) Stonington, Conn.; Portland Commandery NO. 32 KT (Knights Templar) Portland and Kora Shrine in Lewiston.
He was also Past Patron of Both Magdalene Chapter NO. 28, Order of the Eastern Star in Maynard, Mass. and Pioneer Chapter No.11, Order of the Eastern Star in Lisbon Falls. He was also a member of the American Legion Post NO.66 in Lisbon Falls, ME.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret C. Schultz; four children, two sons, Stanley W. Schultz, Jr. and wife, Rhonda of Stoughton, Mass. and Norman Schultz and wife, Sheila of Chelmsford, Mass. and two daughters, Barbara Fitzgerald and husband, Gary of Fairfax, Va. and Connie Danke and husband, Hans of Portage, Mich.; eight grandchildren and brother, David N. Schultz and wife, Suzanne of Huntsville, Ala.
