LEWISTON – The Pentecostal Kids’ Church ministry, The Jesus Party, invites children to an All-American Birthday Party at 6 p.m. Friday, July 2, at the headquarters, 291 Bates St.

The party will celebrate 228 years of independence. Ministry directors Douglas and Sonia Taylor announce that this year’s theme will be “May God Continue Blessing America.”

The facility will be decorated with a patriotic theme, complete with a red, white and blue birthday cake. Children will see a 23-minute video that covers an age appropriate approach to the story of the Declaration of Independence, Boston Tea Party, biography of Thomas Jefferson and the history of the Liberty Bell

Jesus Party patriotic mentor Jerry DerBoghosian, American Legion Post 22, will lead children in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing “My Country Tis of Thee” and “Happy Birthday to America.”

Kids will have an opportunity to have their photo taken with Uncle Sam as a souvenir. Door prizes will include replicas of the Declaration of Independence on antique parchment, Liberty Bells, quill pens and patriotic apparel.

The Jesus Party is a nonprofit organization. For more information concerning upcoming patriotic events for young children call 786-5568.
