BUCKFIELD – A four-week tai ji qi gong series will be held in the gardens of Hedgehog Hill Farm during July.

Qi gong is a type of ancient Chinese exercises done with the breath to enhance internal energy and promote a sense of relaxation. Three breathing patterns will be explored as a meditational experience.

Instructor will be Betsey Foster, MPH. She has studied qi gong and tai chi since the mid-1980s and has taught since 1993. She is also a qi gong student of Dr. Ywang, Jwing-ming, Boston.

Classes will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, July 8 to 29, in the gardens. For questions and to register, call 875-2426.

WEST PARIS – Sienna Tinsley and William Ackley, both of West Paris, have received the Albert and Beatrice Jackson Scholarships.

Tinsley is the daughter of Cynthia and Forrest Tinsley and will enter Amherst College in Amherst, Mass., in September.

Ackley, son of Patricia and Joseph Ackley, will attend the University of Maine at Farmington in the fall.
