LISBON – Vacation Bible School will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. July 12 to 16 at the Lisbon Free Baptist Church, 29 Village St., under the direction of Pastor Gary Leet.

The schedule will include Bible stories, games, crafts and music. All children age 3 through 12 are invited. No preregistration is necessary. A closing program will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 16.

Bands wanted

LISBON – As part of the Moxie Weekend festivities, the Lisbon Teen Center announces an “Acoustic War” in the tradition of Battle of the Bands. Area high school bands are invited to show their stuff on Friday, July 9, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Prizes will include a professionally mastered demo CD and studio time. Call the Teen Center at 353-3010 to sign up the band.

Takes first

AUGUSTA – Cindy Morin of Androscoggin Grange 8 in Greene took first place in the talent contest held at the Maine State Grange in Augusta. Morin sang “Big Deal” by Leanne Rimes.

She will now compete in the regionals, which will be held in Vermont in August. The winner of that competition will to to the nationals in New York.

Morin loves to sing Patsy Cline songs and will appear on stage at the Androscoggin Grange’s annual variety show on Oct. 23.
