LEWISTON – It’ll take another game before the Class D District 8-9 softball championship is decided.
A total of 15 teams competed in the weekend double-elimination tourney held at the Randall Road complex. Melanson Construction/Webber of the Auburn Players League came from the losers’ bracket to knock off previously-unbeaten Lincoln Street Radiator, also of the Auburn league, 17-5, in the first championship round game. But the contest didn’t end until 8:05 p.m. Sunday, so tourney director Jeanne Strout decided the final championship round game will have to be played at a later date.
All clubs with at least 2 wins qualify for the state tourney. Following is the finishing order with records:
1. Lincoln Street Radiator (4-1); Melanson Construction/Webber (7-1); 3. Summit Insurance, Tri-Town, 3-2; 4. Stanley’s, Tri-Town, 3-2; 5. Crystal Spring, L-A League, 3-2; 6. Sabine Productions, L-A League, 2-2; 7. Buddyz Construction, L-A League, 2-2; 8. CarQuest Auto, Auburn Players, 1-2; 9.
