NORWAY – The Lakes Association voted at its annual meeting Saturday to donate $1,000 during the next two years to the Western Foothills Land Trust.

The money will go toward the land trust’s campaign to purchase Witt Swamp on Pennessewassee Lake. The land trust hopes to receive contributions from lake shore residents as well.

Libby Sciachitano and Lee Dassler of the land trust gave a brief presentation to members of the Lakes Association, which is made up of landowners on Pennessewassee Lake as well as Sand, Hobbs and North ponds.

The campaign goal is set at $75,000, which includes $55,000 for the purchase price and additional endowment funds to cover property taxes, maintenance, liability, stewardship costs and other expenses. More information may be obtained by calling Russ Florenz at 743-9019.

Tax-deductible contributions may be made to the Western Foothills Land Trust, Witt Swamp Campaign, P.O. Box 107, Norway, ME 04268.
