RUMFORD – Selectmen will begin the search for a new town manager when they meet Thursday.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the conference room of the Municipal Building.
Robert Welch submitted his resignation earlier this month after serving 12 years. He will stay until a new person begins work or until the end of the year, whichever happens first.
Selectmen are expected to decide whether to use the services of the Maine Municipal Association. Chairman Jim Thibodeau said earlier that he welcomes suggestions from residents on the criteria the board should look for in a new municipal administrator. Selectmen will choose the new town manager.
The board will take action on requests for a handicap parking space on Plymouth Avenue and a stop sign at Penobscot Street and Swift Avenue.
Other agenda items include: discussions on the planned hiring of a parking enforcement officer, electrical service at the Industrial Park sign, and Roberts Rules of Order.
Appointments are expected to be made to several municipal boards and committees. A request for a donation to the Moontide Water Festival is expected.
The board also plans to take action on two hawkers and peddlers license requests for an ice cream wagon and a food cart.
