Another victory for HMOs. A unanimous decision by the Supreme Court makes HMOs exempt from malpractice lawsuits. No longer can they point the finger and blame some of the lawyers for the high cost of insurance.

Special interests have won another battle, dictating to the Supreme Court what they want. Companies like Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, AARP, etc., should be tickled pink. They’ve been telling us for years why insurance rates are so high. Not because of CEO salaries, but because of numerous high-cost lawsuits.

I’m sure by the end of summer we will witness prices for insurance and prescription drugs reduced. Oil companies will soon follow and you will have more money to fuel at the pumps. Registered teenagers voting will frequent the Wal-Mart stores with their personal cell phones and tell their friends while shopping that they will be going from the radio aisle on to the earring section and followed by the low-rider jeans section and maybe the beauty shop to have their hair colored.

In ending, I must say, I haven’t had anyone from the Legislature contact me and be willing to step down and share our Social Security and health care benefits.

Welcome to “corporate America,” land of the fortunate.
