LEWISTON – Healthy Androscoggin gathered for the fourth annual Get Fit and Win closing event at the Bates College amphitheater on June 14. Two hundred and four of the 1,632 participants in the eight-week physical activity incentive program and Healthy Androscoggin volunteers and staff gathered to celebrate their physical activity accomplishments.

The crowd listened to inspirational stories submitted by Get Fit and Win participants over the course of the eight weeks. Participants committed to making physical activity a part of their daily life and tracked their progress in their activity log.

Tammy Fisher of Sabattus wrote, “If I didn’t get a chance to exercise I could actually feel it. My body needed the exercise just like it needs oxygen and food.”

John Whalen, vice president of L/A Trails encouraged participants to stay active by utilizing the biking and walking trails located throughout Androscoggin County. Participants visited displayed maps detailing trails in the L/A area.
