JAY – Girl Scouts of Kennebec Council end-of-the-year leader appreciation dinner was held June 14 at St. Rose of Lima Church Hall. Approximately 30 leaders, nine VFW members and 10 guests attended. Decorations were appropriate for Flag Day. Troop 212 of Livermore Falls prepared a spaghetti dinner. The Cadette/Senior Girl Scouts served and cleaned up.

Leaders of the troop are Tammy Hemminger, Krystal Mitchell, Brenda Newman, Judilee Whittemore, Mary Ramsdell and Gloria Therrien. Hemminger, Mitchell and Newman helped with the planning, decorations and cooking.

The girls from Troop 212 who served were Heather Hemminger, Hillary Hemminger, Hailey Hemminger, Leila Hailey, Erika Newman, Holly Therriault, Tiffany Ramsdell and Emily Baillageron. Doreen Maxwell, Hemminger’s mother, helped in the kitchen.

The program started with the VFW posting the colors and leading in the pledge. Chaplain Donald LeSuer led grace. The girls served the meal. Everyone joined in a few games to help mingle with others, and small prizes were awarded.

Gifts were given to the VFW for all the support given the troops. Leader appreciation gifts along with special gifts for the Service Team were awarded. Service team members are Tammy Hemminger, Tammy Ferland, Donna Knight, Rita Smith and Brenda Mitchell. Junior Service Team member is freshman Heather Hemminger.

Table centerpieces were given out and a flower arrangement winner was drawn. Troop 212 was awarded a gift from the VFW for the girl’s involvement with serving meals at events for the VFW as part of community service. The troop has been doing community service all year.

Troop leaders attended from Livermore Falls to Rangeley. A list of the leaders include Tammy Morgan, Rita Smith, Regina Foss, Sue Gill, Teresa Mudie, Tammy Ferland, Tammy Sanborn, Tammy Hemminger, Mary Ramsdell, Brenda Newman, Krystal Mitchell, Judilee Whittemore, Anna Wetherill, Benjamin Wetherill, Cheryl Hebert, Kelly Gray, Nancy Griffen, Donna Knight, Jennifer Hutchinson, Penny Lesperance, Carol Mitchell, Naomi Stone, Diane Dunham, Tina Berry, Brenda Mitchell, Tammy Choate, Sue Storer and Judy Rodgers; Ellen Young, Sandy River’s membership and marketing person; and Gary Young, registrar and cookie cupboard volunteer.

VFW members attending included Commander Neree Simoneau, Chaplain Donald LeSeur, John Dube, Ronald Therrien, Francis Therrien, Wally Trip, Larry Brochu, Jean Nadeau, Palmer Hebert along with many guests.
