SOMERVILLE, Mass. (AP) – Two Somerville men pleaded innocent on Friday to a fatal stabbing in the city.
Van Louis Gustave, 24, and Joseph Spinucci, 25, are each charged with three counts of armed assault with intent to murder and three counts of armed assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for the stabbing death on Thursday night of Ryan Sullivan, 16, and the non-fatal stabbings of two other teenagers.
Gustave and Spinucci were ordered held pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
The charges against the suspects could be upgraded, according to a spokeswoman for the Middlesex district attorney’s office.
The stabbings occurred late Thursday night after the suspects and the three victims had some sort of argument, Somerville police said.
Police responding to the scene found the victims suffering from stab wounds. Sullivan and Jules Stevens, 17, were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where Sullivan was pronounced dead. Stevens is in critical condition.
The third victim, William Tighe, 19, was treated and released from Somerville Hospital.
The investigation into the incident is continuing.
