PHILADELPHIA – Bobby Abreu homered and drove in three runs, Eric Milton became the first 11-game winner in the National League and the NL East-leading Philadelphia Phillies beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-2 Sunday.

Abreu went 2-for-4 with his 17th homer and a two-run double for Philadelphia, which took two of three in the series and improved to 5-2 on its current 14-game homestand.

Milton (11-2) pitched six-plus solid innings and joined Boston’s Curt Schilling and Texas’ Kenny Rogers for most victories in the majors.

Coming off his worst start of the season against the Expos on Tuesday – seven earned runs in five innings – Milton gave up two runs, one earned, on seven hits, striking out four and walking one. He also had two hits.

Milton gave up consecutive singles to start the seventh and was replaced by Rheal Cormier, who retired the side with help from a double-play grounder by Brian Roberts.

Rockies 10, Tigers 8

DENVER – Vinny Castilla celebrated his 37th birthday with four RBIs and Royce Clayton also drove in four runs to help the Colorado Rockies tie a club record by erasing an eight-run deficit to beat the Detroit Tigers 10-8 Sunday.

Castilla went 1-for-5 with a three-run double. Clayton went 2-for-5 with a bases-loaded triple.

Shawn Chacon struck out Ivan Rodriguez with two runners on to end the eighth inning and pitched the ninth for his 17th save in 23 chances. Adam Bernero (1-0) allowed a single in two innings of relief.

Rangers 18, Astros 3

HOUSTON – Mark Teixeira and Hank Blalock became the first Rangers to hit grand slams in the same game, lifting Texas to an 18-3 rout of the Houston Astros on Sunday.

Teixeira added a solo shot in the eighth, Kevin Mench also had two homers among his career-high four hits and Alfonso Soriano hit a two-run home run.

Teixeira hit his slam in the ninth inning off Chad Harville and Blalock was pinch-hitting in the sixth when he connected to give the Rangers their first two grand slam game since the Washington Senators moved to Texas in 1972.

Reds 5, Indians 4

CINCINNATI – Tim Hummel’s run-scoring single in the 11th inning sent the Cincinnati Reds to a 5-4 victory Sunday set up by the Cleveland Indians’ undependable bullpen.

Indians relievers blew a three-run lead in the eighth, then teetered on the edge of a loss until the Reds finally pushed them over.

D’Angelo Jimenez took a called third strike from Rick White (3-3) with the bases loaded and two outs in the 10th, a temporary reprieve. Ken Griffey Jr. started the winning rally with a leadoff single in the 11th.

Marlins 4, Devil Rays 3

MIAMI – A.J. Burnett won for the first time in nearly two years, Miguel Cabrera hit his 20th homer and the Florida Marlins snapped a four-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Sunday.

Burnett gave up six hits and three runs in 7 2-3 innings and won for the first time since Aug. 18, 2002 – ending a career-high winless span of 15 outings. He struck out six, walked none and even got his first hit of the season.

The hard-throwing right-hander missed most of last season and part of this one while recovering from elbow surgery.

Cardinals 2, Mariners 1

ST. LOUIS – Jeff Suppan pitched four-hit ball into the eighth inning and Jim Edmonds threw out a runner at the plate in the fourth, helping the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Seattle Mariners 2-1 Sunday to complete a three-game sweep.

The NL Central-leading Cardinals finished 11-1 in interleague play, the best in the majors in the eight years that the AL and NL have been playing, edging a 16-2 record by the Oakland A’s in 2002.

Pirates 6, Brewers 2

PITTSBURGH – Chris Stynes broke out of a season-long slump by driving in three runs with a homer and two-run double and the Pittsburgh Pirates ran their longest winning streak since 1996 to nine games, beating the Milwaukee Brewers 6-2 Sunday.

Stynes hit his first homer since Sept. 3, when he played with Colorado, and had a go-ahead two-run double in a four-run sixth inning. Stynes began the game with a .209 average and only 13 RBIs in 139 at-bats.

Expos 6, Blue Jays 4

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Shawn Hill got his first major league win, pitching five strong innings to lead the Montreal Expos to a 6-4 win Sunday over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Hill (1-1) struck out six and allowed one run on six hits in five-plus innings in his second big league start.

Joe Horgan struck out Reed Johson with the bases loaded for for his first career save after the Blue Jays scored three runs in the ninth off Chad Cordero.

Mets 6, Yankees 5

NEW YORK – Ty Wigginton’s second homer snapped an eighth-inning tie, Richard Hidalgo connected for the fourth straight game and the New York Mets finished off their first Subway Series sweep with a 6-5 victory over the Yankees on Sunday.

As Braden Looper got the last three outs in the ninth, Mets fans among the sellout crowd of 55,437 chanted “Sweep! Sweep!” That surely wasn’t the present Yankees owner George Steinbrenner was hoping for on his 74th birthday.

The Yankees played the game under protest after Jorge Posada was called out when he was hit while running from first to second on Miguel Cairo’s eighth-inning grounder. Mets first baseman Mike Piazza had dived for the ball in front of Posada.

Padres 7, Royals 1

SAN DIEGO – David Wells had another impressive start in leading the San Diego Padres to a 7-1 win over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday, but he and first baseman Phil Nevin were forced out with injuries.

Wells (4-5) fouled a ball off his lower right leg in the sixth inning. He was tended to by a trainer and finished his at-bat, striking out swinging, but didn’t go out for the seventh.

Two innings earlier, Nevin, the cleanup hitter had to leave with a possible cartilage tear in his right knee.

D-backs 6, Twins 2

PHOENIX – Randy Johnson threw a five-hitter for his 10th victory and Al Pedrique got his first win as Arizona manager in the Diamondbacks’ 6-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday.

Shea Hillenbrand drove in three runs with a triple and home run, and that was plenty of offense for Johnson.

Cubs 2, White Sox 1

CHICAGO – Pinch-hitter Todd Walker drew a bases-loaded walk from Damaso Marte in the ninth inning Sunday night to give the Chicago Cubs a 2-1 win over the crosstown White Sox and complete a three-game sweep.

Derrek Lee homered for the Cubs against Mark Buehrle in the second inning, but Carlos Lee tied it with a ninth-inning homer off LaTroy Hawkins (2-1).

, who blew a save for the fourth time in 15 chances.

Moises Alou, chosen for the All-Star game earlier in the day, singled off Shingo Takatsu (4-1) leading off the bottom of the ninth.

Derrek Lee sacrificed, Michael Barrett was walked intentionally and Takausu walked Ramon Martinez, loading the bases.

Marte, a left-hander, came in and got ahead of Walker in the count at 0-2 before forcing home the winning run. It was the Cubs’ first sweep of the White Sox since 1998, when they also won all three at Wrigley Field. That season the teams played just one series, not two.

Derrek Lee had three of the four hits against Buehrle, who struck out eight and walked two in seven innings.

Glendon Rusch, who came out of the bullpen May 16 to start in place of Kerry Wood, allowed five hits in eight shutout innings, striking out six and walking none.

Buehrle, who has won seven of eight decisions, worked quickly and flashed his impressive pickoff move in the fourth when he caught All-Star Sammy Sosa leaning the wrong way at first. Buehrle later made an error on a wild pickoff but the Cubs were not able to capitalize.

The White Sox won two of three last week against the Cubs at home, then went to the Metrodome and won three straight from the Twins to take the lead in the AL Central.

They came to Wrigley Field leading the majors in scoring and with a five-game winning streak, but managed just five runs in the series.

Notes: Alou made the NL All-Star team with the Cubs for the first time. He’s also been selected as a member of the Expos, Marlins and Astros. “This was going to be my last year. I wasn’t going to play anymore after this year,” said Alou, who turned 38 Saturday. “That was before spring training. Now after spring training and the season started, I want to play a couple more years because I feel good about myself.” … Frank Thomas struck out as a pinch hitter in the eighth and fanned in all three of his pinch-hitting at-bats in the series. Thomas is 4-for-25 as a pinch hitter in his career.
