JAY – A contract with Community Emergency Services and discussion on the next step on replacing a pumper truck are on tap before the selectmen on Tuesday.
Franklin Memorial Hospital of Farmington is proposing a three-year contract for ambulance services for the town of Jay, Town Manager Ruth Marden said.
Livermore voters rejected a three-year contract last month, favoring a one-year contract instead. Jay selectmen voted in January to have Marden seek a one-year contract with the hospital, rejecting a three-year proposal.
Hospital representatives are scheduled to be at the meeting at 6 p.m. at the Community Building.
Jay firefighters are also scheduled to discuss a new pumper truck to replace an aging firetruck. Voters rejected an article to authorize selectmen to enter into an agreement to buy and finance the truck in April. At the time, the custom-made pumper truck was estimated to cost about $389,094. The department had $138,909 in reserve, and voters approved an additional $50,000 for the truck in April.
