FARMINGTON – The Board of Appeals granted a variance for two additions on the rear of a trailer, but rejected a variance for a garage on the same property.

The setback requirements are mandated under the town’s Zoning Ordinance.

Melinda Thomas of Jay had sought a variance of the town’s shoreland zoning ordinance and dimensional requirements for construction of a garage at 213 Clover Mill Road. Thomas also proposes building two additions onto a trailer within 250 feet of Temple Stream, which falls under the shoreland zoning ordinance.

She is scheduled to appear before the Planning Board on Monday, July 14, concerning a shoreland zoning application for the additions.

The Appeals Board did a site walk at the residence and decided there was adequate room for the garage, assistant code enforcement officer Jane Ford said.

Thomas had requested a variance for the garage to be constructed 20 feet away from a right-of-way instead of the required 35 feet.
