BOSTON (AP) – A handful of flights were delayed Monday after a problem with two electric substations put an airline terminal at Logan International Airport in the dark for five hours.
The outage shut down security screening systems, the equipment used to process passengers and luggage, as well as elevators and escalators in Terminal E, according to Phil Orlandella, spokesman for the Massachusetts Port Authority.
The outage, which happened at about 2:15 p.m., delayed some flights, including three international flights, Orlandella said. Terminal E handles both domestic and international traffic.
The Transportation Security Administration had to screen passengers and checked luggage by hand before power was restored at 7:10 p.m., Orlandella said. The cause of the outage was under investigation by NSTAR.
