AUGUSTA – The Maine Technology Institute will host its third annual Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer Summer Session on Aug. 3. It will be held at the Sable Oaks-Marriott in South Portland.

The summer session will provide an overview of the $2 billion in federal SBIR/STTR grants available for innovative technology projects. Program managers from five federal SBIR/STTR programs will present and meet one-on-one with attendees to discuss their innovative technologies. Last year Maine businesses were awarded $4.6 million in SBIR/STTR money, the most received in state history.

New to this year’s event are workshops on Maine’s grant opportunities for SBIR/STTR support, additional funding for project development and a seminar on new technology commercialization.

Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. with presentations, workshops and one-on-one meetings running from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Preregistration is required and may be made by e-mailing MTI at [email protected] or by calling Leanne Bourgeois at 207-582-4790, extension 0.
