NEW GLOUCESTER – An Auburn firm presented a preliminary plan for a 25-lot subdivision on Penny Road to the Planning Board on Tuesday night. Fortin Construction Inc. of Auburn bought the Morrison ball field on Penny Road and is proposing to develop it. Don Fortin said he plans to keep the ball field intact, with a possible gift to the town for the New Gloucester Little League, which uses and maintains the land. The board reviewed the preliminary plan for the 60 acres, 10 of them wetlands, and an intermittent stream. The board scheduled a site walk at 5 p.m. July 14. The subdivision requires review and permits by Maine’s Department of Environmental Protection. The plan may be constructed in two phases, Fortin said.
In other business, the board held a public hearing on the Reiss subdivision on Intervale Road. The board approved four lots on roughly four acres.
Part of the lot includes a right of way along a section of the former rail bed that is used for walkers and snowmobilers.
Developer Richard Reiss of Bridgton said he is committed to doing work to relocate the trail onto adjacent town property to maintain the trail system between Upper and Lower Gloucester.
Matt Johnson and Lillian Nayder got the OK to add a 940-square-foot addition to their home on Sabbathday Lake.
And, Field Rider was given approval to move a barn from North Yarmouth to his property in Lower Gloucester. The barn will be moved along Route 231 and is 24 feet by 36 feet.
