I would like to respond to Klaus Kuck’s (June 24) allegation that there is no responsible voice in the Muslim world against “barbarity committed in the name of Allah and the Muslim religion.”

I went to the English Jordan Times Web site the day his letter was published and found an editorial titled, “Stop hostage taking.” It expressed outrage that “another innocent hostage was butchered in Iraq.” It pointed out that hostage taking was barbaric and a violation of international law and stated that hostage taking was “the worry of every civilized country in the world.”

As letter writer Ms. Larudee pointed out June 5, the situation is far more complex than Mr. Kuck suggests. Making statements about “all Muslims and Arabs” is very dangerous.
