NAPLES, Fla. – Frank E. Folsom, 93, died Saturday, June 26, in Naples, Fla.

Born in Lynn, Mass., Aug. 22, 1910, he was married to Wilma Hopkins Folsom for 38 years, until her death in 1970. They lived in Lynn for 25 years prior to moving to Auburn, where they resided for 35 years.

During that period, he owned and operated J.H. Gillen Co., a manufacturing business in the shoe industry. Upon his retirement, Mr. Folsom moved to Naples, Fla., where he resided for the last 33 years, spending his summers in Maine with his family.

He was a longtime member of the Boston Boot and Shoe Club. He was a founding member of the Auburn Exchange Club and a 50-year member of the United Commercial Travelers of America.

He was an avid golfer and founding member of the Fairlawn Golf Course and also a member of Martindale Country Club for many years. Upon moving to Naples, he was a founding member of Quail Run Country Club in Naples, Fla. He had four holes in one during a 50-year career, shooting his age at 72 and again at 88 and continued to play until age 91.

Survivors include one son, Frank M. Folsom and wife, Maxine (Bell) of Auburn; one daughter, Penny Folsom Michaud and her husband, Roger of Orrs Island; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He enjoyed spending summers in Maine, working with his family at a seasonal business for the last several years. He was often seen walking the Bailey Island bridge as part of his daily walks. He loved his family and he took great delight in a good walk or a round of golf. He will be sadly missed by all.
