PORTLAND – Annie G. Edgerly, 96, of Kingfield, died Thursday, July 8, at the Maine Medical Center.

She was born, Jan. 9, 1908, in Starks, the daughter of Caleb W. and Ella (Lovell) Gilmore.

On Nov. 4, 1935, she married, Carroll D. Edgerly.

She attended school in Kingfield, graduating from Kingfield High School in 1927. In her early adulthood she worked at the Herbert Hotel and at Pickford’s in Rangeley. She later worked at H.G. Winter and Sons until her retirement.

She held office as secretary for 22 years in the Signal Light chapter Order of Eastern Star 81 and enjoyed her association with the Maine Rural Letter Carriers of which her husband was a longtime member.

Her favorite pastime was cooking. From her kitchen came many rolls, biscuits and pies for family, friends, and public suppers. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching their games on TV.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, David H. and Sally Edgerly of Kingfield, John G. and Mary Ellen Edgerly of Farmington; four grandchildren, Jay and Marjorie Scribner of Kingfield, Ron and Rebecca Edgerly of Sabattus, Robert and Susan Edgerly of Dayton, Richard and Dawn Edgerly of Oquossoc; six great-grandchildren, Karli Scribner of Plymouth, N.H., Kelsey Scribner of Kingfield, Jacob and Daniel Edgerly of Dayton, Cory and Annie W. Edgerly of New Gloucester; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; infant, Wade Carroll; and a brother, Hugh Gilmore.
