HARRISON – The search is on for all karaoke performers to become this town’s version of “American Idol.”
The contest is part of Harrison Old Home Days, July 14-17. The first step to becoming the Harrison Idol is the preliminary contest at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, in the upstairs banquet hall at the Lakeside Restaurant. Only solo acts will be eligible and participants must be at least 18 years of age.
Eight contestants will be chosen to go on to perform at Crystal Lake Park with judging from 8 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, as a prelude to the annual fireworks. Officiating will be Scott and Blue Karayucky. Four semifinalists will be chosen. These four will be invited to participate in the grand parade and on the Harrison Old Home Days stage.
The Harrison Idol will be announced at 8 p.m. Friday, July 16. Brochures are available at area businesses. The Market Basket and Village Tie-up will have ducks for purchase for the 8th annual great duck race. There will be hourly raffle drawings and Fiesta carnival rides at Crystal Lake Park.
