JAY – Larry Raymond Coffren, 58, of Jay, died Thursday evening, July 8, at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born, June 17, 1946, in Farmington, a son of Raymond Coffren Sr. and Hazel Wilcox. He attended Phillips schools and later earned a B.S. from Kennedy Western University in 1998.
On Sept. 27, 1986, he married Jill Currier at the Flagstaff Memorial Chapel in Eustis.
He owned and operated Coffren trucking for 18 years where he was known as the, “Green Hornet” and worked at International Paper in Jay for the past 17 years.
He was a gifted coordinator with a tremendous work ethic and great sense of humor. He was a Sunday School superintendent at the Church of the Nazarene in Strong and the Christian Life Director. He was currently a member of the First Congregational Church in Wilton where he also served as the Sunday School superintendent and deacon. This past May, he was installed as King Lion of the Wilton Lions Club.
He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, and working in the garden. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Jill of Jay; two sons, Colin C. Coffren and his partner, Dawna Frasca of Nantucket, Mass., and L. Ryan Coffren and his wife, Kimberly of Natick, Mass.; two daughters, Ortencia Arellano and Ella L. Coffren of Jay; parents, Raymond Coffen Sr. of Salem and Hazel Stygles of Farmington; two grandchildren, Travis P. O’Neil and Colton C. Coffren.
