WESTBROOK – A delegation of 16 representatives from Maine’s credit unions, including individuals from Rainbow Federal Credit Union and Oxford Federal Credit Union, met with Maine’s congressional delegation as part of the Maine Credit Union League’s annual “Hike the Hill” trip.
The trip provides an opportunity for Maine’s credit unions to discuss issues that affect them and their members, and to receive a legislative update from the state’s members of Congress.
During the June 16-17 trip to Washington, the Maine credit union representatives met with Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, Reps. Tom Allen and Mike Michaud, and senior members of their staffs.
They discussed credit union initiatives such as the Campaign for Ending Hunger and the expansion of federal regulations that allow credit unions to make small buisness loans.
The Maine Credit Union League is the trade association for Maine’s 77 affiliated credit unions providing a variety of services and products to assist credit unions in meeting the needs of their membership.
