LEEDS – Patricia E. Trommer, 52, of Leeds, died Saturday, July 10, surrounded by her family at her home.

She was born Sept. 14, 1951, in White Plains, N.Y., the daughter of Godfrey C. and Marjorie Lane Edgerton. She grew up in Bedford, N.Y. and attended Keuka College and Widener College, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the latter with a B.S. in nursing in 1974. She was a registered nurse and was employed in that capacity for much of her adult life.

In 1972, she married William L. Trommer and they recently celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary.

She lived in Leeds for 26 years, having moved there with her husband in 1978. She worked as a full-time mom for nine years, during which time she volunteered as a childbirth educator for PACE. She returned to work as an RN at Central Maine Medical Center in 1987. In 1990, she joined Androscoggin Home Health Services, and worked there until the onset of her recent illness.

Mrs. Trommer is remembered as a dedicated, meticulous, and caring professional. She held a great deal of respect for people in general, and her patients in particular. She was a caregiver in every aspect of her life and took great pleasure in connecting with her patients and the people with whom she worked.

She had a love for the outdoors and walked for pleasure almost every day. She enjoyed hiking, running, camping, nordic skiing, and being in the mountains with her husband and dogs. She loved to travel. In 1976, she and her husband took a five-month camping trip across the Western United States.

She loved gardening, reading, listening to folk music, and attending the sports events and other school activities of her children. She was a quiet person who cherished her close friendships. She possessed an exquisite sense of dignity, was keen of wit, and had a dry sense of humor.

In 2001, she was finally able to convince her husband to take ballroom dance lessons, and from that point on, ballroom dancing became a regular part of their life together. She especially enjoyed dancing at the wedding of her daughter, Heather, in 2002.

She is survived by her husband Bill Trommer, of Leeds; two children, Heather Marie Trommer-Beardslee of Mount Pleasant, Mich., and Leah Kristin Trommer of Leeds; her mother, Margaret Edgerton of Manhattan, Mont.; a brother, Douglas Edgerton, his wife Maureen, and daughter Clare, all of West Yellowstone, Mont.; and her two dogs, Avonlea and Shadow, of Leeds.
