LEWISTON – Patrick J. Cote, 63, of 67 Pierce St., died Saturday, July 10, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 24, 1940 in Presque Isle, the son of Alexander J. and Ida May Wells Cote, and attended schools in Presque Isle. He later moved to Portland where he had been a resident for many years, until moving to Lewiston six years ago. He worked most of his life as a self-employed painter.

He enjoyed fishing, writing poetry, playing the guitar, singing, stock car racing, and was an excellent artist.

He will be sadly missed by his family. “Even though we are apart, you will always remain in our hearts.”

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Thompson) Cote; three sons, William J. Cote of Presque Isle, James B. Cote of South Portland, and Thomas James Coty of Portland; three daughters, Cynthia May Parent of Presque Isle, Christine Blanche Ross of Virginia Beach, Va., and Joy Lynn Garnett of Westbrook; three step-sons, Jack R. Thompson of Bangor, Calvin L. Hartzell of Portland, and Patrick J. Moore of Bangor; two step-daughters, Carol J. Leighton of Pownal, and Roberta J. Thompson of Westbrook; five brothers, Alexander Jr. of Presque Isle, Joseph of Portsmouth, N.H., Anthony “Tony” of Rumford, and Lenwood and Timothy, both of Connecticut; three sisters, Yvonne Philbrook of Florida, Frances Chambers of Canada, and Catherine Chatman of Woodland; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Richard; and by a step-son, Wayne Thompson.
