LEWISTON – Douglas and Sonia Taylor, ordained Oneness Pentecostal ministers with the North American Ministerial Association, will hold three nights of open-air gospel meetings from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, July 20 to 22, at the gazebo in Kennedy Park.

Mrs. Taylor will perform contemporary Christian music that will accompany her husband’s open-air campaign to revive this type of evangelism.

Doug Taylor said, “There are diverse methods to the art of preaching that vary from the offices of the apostle, evangelist, prophet, pastor and the teachers of the Christian faith. The early Protestant movement used the art of street preaching as a way of addressing large numbers of unchurched people.”

“Historically, this type of evangelism can become challenging as the preacher comes out from behind the comforts of stained-glass windows and elevates himself publicly soapbox style,’ to confront hecklers, as he boldly draws parallels between Bible prophecy and the headlines of our daily newspaper,” Taylor said.

All interested in attending are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and a Bible. For more information, call 786-5568. The event will take place regardless of weather.
