WALES – Lakeside Chapter 60, OES, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, to honor veterans and patriotism at the Grange Masonic Center, Centre Road. Light refreshments will be served.

Rotary speaker

LEWISTON – Gary Kennedy, member of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club, will be the speaker at the club’s weekly meeting at noon Thursday, July 15, at the Ramada Inn.

Kennedy recently returned from a nine-month stay in the Philippines where he was working to complete a library in Dasmarinas. Photos of the progress will be shown and the work described.

The library is a joint project of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Dasmarinas, the municipal government of Dasmarinas and Rotary International.

Anyone interested in the program or in knowing more about Rotary is invited to attend. The cost of the luncheon is $8.

Lakes lecture

AUBURN – Roy Farnsworth will give an educational lecture on the “Geomorphology of Area Lakes” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at the Brackett Environmental Center, 24 Maple Mill Road.

The lecture is made possible through the Maine Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program, a nonprofit organization. Farnsworth will discuss the geologic origins of lakes in the Auburn area.

Two graduate

EXETER, N.H. – Richard A. Davidson, son of Dr. and Mrs. Richard B. Davidson of Hebron, and Abigail R. Burns, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Charles H. Burns of Auburn, were among 314 members of the class of 2004 who received a diploma at the 223rd commencement at Phillips Exeter Academy on June 6.

Both were three-year students at the coeducational, independent secondary school, and both earned highest honors for the spring term.
