LIVERMORE FALLS – A Livermore Falls man accused of drugging and forcibly raping a 29-year-old woman remained in jail Tuesday, held on $2,500 cash bail.

Nicholas Beckey, 36, was arrested Monday and charged with gross sexual assault and unlawful trafficking in Schedule Z drugs – prescription medication, said Livermore Falls Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr.

A little after 5:30 a.m. Monday, Livermore Falls police officer Maurice Drouin responded to a report of sexual abuse.

The victim, an acquaintance of Beckey’s, told police she had been drugged and sexually assaulted at 162 Fayette Road, Lot 9, Steward said.

The woman was taken by ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, where a sexual assault team gathered evidence.

Livermore Falls’ special investigator, Heidi Gould, was called in to help Drouin with the case.

Together, the officers conducted interviews that resulted in their obtaining a search warrant for physical evidence at the home of the suspect, Lt. Thomas E. Gould stated in a press release.

Police went to Beckey’s work place and arrested him and brought Beckey back to the Fayette Road residence where Drouin, Gould and officer Roderick Small executed a search warrant.

Drouin worked a 26-hour shift, from the time he went to work Sunday night till he got off duty Monday night after the investigation and arrest, Steward said.

Beckey was taken to Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn after he couldn’t make bail at the Livermore Falls police station.

He is scheduled to appear Sept. 8 at 8th District Court in Lewiston.

The Class B gross sexual assault charge carries a prison term of up to 10 years, and a fine of up to $20,000, Small said.
