GREENE – Alton C. Goldrup Sr., 76, a resident of Route 202, Greene, died Thursday, July 15, at his home surrounded by his family following a long illness.

He was born Feb. 19, 1928, in Lewiston, the son of Ernest A. and Blanche (Savage) Goldrup. He attended school at Keene’s Corner School in Leeds. On Jan. 3, 1953, he married Lilla A. Philbrick of Greene at the Keene’s Corner Church in Leeds.

He worked as a truck driver for W.H. Hinnman; Blue Rock Industries, Leeds Division; Leeds Sand & Gravel; S. Prawer & Son in Portland; Greeley’s in Auburn; Twin City Leasing in Lewiston; Inmont in Winthrop; and also had his own dump truck working privately. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Lilla, of Greene; two daughters, Jo-Anna Philbrick and Marion Goldrup and her friend, Robert Therrien; two sons, Alton Goldrup Jr. and his wife, Holly, and Clyde Goldrup and his wife, Vicki; 13 grandchildren, Joseph Velozo and his wife, Heather, Shawn and his wife, Shannon Goldrup, Jeffery Goldrup, Kevin Goldrup, Casey Goldrup and his girlfriend, Jamie, Jason Goldrup and his girlfriend, Jody, Robert and Marlene Dumais, Laura Dumais and friend, Nelson, Joseph Moreau, Shelley Barry, Travis Therrien, Jeanie Cote and Rosie Burgess; 11 great-grandchildren, Tylon, Ariel, Briana, Cole, Sadie, Ryley, Brittney Mae, Calvin, Brandon, Kaitlyn and Pamela; four brothers, George and his wife, Bunny Goldrup, Edward and his wife, Marion Goldrup, Frank Goldrup and his friend, Sally Labrie and Robert Goldrup; one sister, Florabelle McGinley and her husband, Daniel; also many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Richard, “Billy” William, and Ernest Jr.; a sister, Ruth Bade; and one grandchild, Raymond “Bumper” Moreau.
