OTISFIELD – The Democratic committees from House District 100 (Oxford, Otisfield and Mechanic Falls) will hold a joint caucus at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 23, in the Otisfield Town Hall to selecting a nominee for the district.

The vacancy was created when David Ivey, the Democratic nominee following the primary in June, withdrew from the race. The caucus is being convened by Maureen Howard, chairwoman in Otisfield, and Joe Flanders, chairman in Oxford, assisted by Oxford County Democratic Chairwoman Cathy Newell.

The nominee selected at the caucus will be reported to the secretary of state by the July 26 deadline, and that person’s name will be on the ballot in November, according to the organizers.

The caucus is open to members of the municipal committees in the three towns. Registered Democrats are considered to be members of their local committees. People with questions or interest in seeking the nomination can call Cathy Newell, 875-2116.
