Editor’s note: Every day there are rays of light that shine into the lives of people through their neighbors, their co-workers, their families and even through complete strangers. This column is devoted to exposing these sunbeams to the light and offering readers an opportunity to share good news. We plan to occasionally offer up our own sunbeams, too.
Lost and found

Recently, a friend and I stopped at McDonald’s in South Paris on our way to Evans Notch for a hike. After arriving at our destination and getting ready for our hike, I realized that I had misplaced my wallet, containing a little money and (most importantly) a credit card and driver’s license. After turning my backpack and car inside out, I concluded that I had probably left it in the ladies’ room at McDonald’s.

On the chance (slim chance, I thought) that someone had turned my wallet in, I drove the 50 minutes back to South Paris. When I asked the workers at McDonald’s if anyone had found a green fabric wallet, they told me that a little girl had found it and told her father. The father told the McDonald’s crew, who retrieved it from the ladies’ room and saved it for me.

I was very happy to get my wallet back, and I wish I could thank the girl and her father in person. If this letter is printed, perhaps they will see it and accept my sincere thanks. Thanks to them and to the McDonald’s crew for their honesty. It made my day.

Voting help

I would like to extend my thanks to the volunteers at the voting place in Lewiston’s District 74 who helped my wife and me determine if we were in the correct location and updated our new address so we could vote.

I am certain that many volunteers across the city and state helped other citizens have a positive voting experience and hope that other Mainers take the time to thank them too.

Medical help

We, Jean Kenny, Garry and Valerie Marston, and Rick and Judy Henry, the grandparents of twins Kegan and Logan Kenny, want to thank family, friends and all businesses and organizations who contributed in one way or another to make the special benefit happen that raised money for needed medical procedures for the twins. The benefit was a great success.

Many thanks for everything.
