TURNER – The family of Elizabeth Brown of Turner gathered recently to celebrate her 85th birthday.

Her five children attended: Randy Brown, Augusta; James Brown, Turner; Sharon Call, Greene; Connie Mower, Greene; and William Brown, Scarborough.

Mrs. Brown was born on Upper Street in Turner and has lived in Turner all her life. She was married to Ernest P. Brown, who died in 1986.

She has 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and one sister, Ruth Lind, also of Turner.

Benefit supper

FARMINGTON – A benefit supper will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 30, at the Farmington Falls Fire Station. Proceeds will benefit Paul Karkos, who has been diagnosed with stomach cancer. He is presently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments in Farmington and Waterville.

Karkos has been an active member of the community. The supper is free; donations will be accepted at the door. The menu will consist of baked beans, ham, coleslaw, chop suey, rolls and dessert.
