• July 17, 2:30 a.m. – An unknown vehicle knocked down a road sign at the corner of Free and Virgin streets. Damage to the sign was estimated at $100.

• July 15 – A man with no address reported that someone had stolen his 1992 Buick LeSabre, which was parked in a lot near St. Athanasius and St. John School. An investigation revealed that the complaint was a possible false report, and relates to an incident that happened in Mexico.

• July 13, 12:05 a.m. – A Spruce Street resident reported that someone had damaged her car, which had multiple deep scratches all over it that had been caused by a sharp metal object. Damage was estimated at $3,000.

• July 12, 4 p.m. – A collision occurred at the intersection of Falmouth Street and Lincoln Avenue between a 1993 Dodge pickup truck driven by James Collins, 54, of Dixfield, and a 2001 Chevy sedan driven by Lynne Hinckley, 19, of Rumford. Damage to the Chevy was estimated at $2,000; to the Dodge, $500.

• July 10 – A car-deer collision on Route 2 in front of the Madison Restaurant and Inn took on a bizarre twist when a man arrived on the scene, shot and killed the deer.

The unidentified man then loaded it into his pickup truck and drove off westbound on Route 2, according to an Oxford County dispatcher. It is not known if the man or deer were located.

The collision caused approximately $2,000 in damage to a 2003 Subaru operated by Susannah Winsley, 20, of Dover-Foxcroft.

• July 10 – A Cumberland Street landlord reported damage done to his building. Police said the vandalism is an ongoing problem.

• July 10 – A Plymouth Avenue business owner reported vandalism to the building.

• July 9 – A Waldo Street caller reported that a child had been bitten by a dog. The matter was turned over to the animal control officer.

• July 9 – A criminal mischief complaint was reported by a Route 2 caller, who said that people camping at a local airfield had damaged a gate.

• July 8 – A collision occurred at the intersection of Maine Avenue and Hancock Street between a 1984 Jeep driven by Harold Wilfred, 80, of Lakeland, Fla., and a 1996 Plymouth driven by Kimberly Papsadora, 37, of Rumford. The Jeep sustained an estimated $1,000 in damage; the Plymouth, $4,500.

• July 6 – Someone spray-painted an obscenity on the middle of Route 2.

• July 5 – A Route 2 resident reported that people were urinating outside in front of him.

Arrests

All of the following are to be arraigned on Sept. 7 in Rumford District Court:

• Charles Cogley, 23, of Rumford, on charges of operating under the influence and operating after suspension, on July 18. He was released on $600 unsecured bail.

• James D. Johnson, 31, of Rumford, on charges of operating under the influence and operating after suspension, on July 17. He was released on $600 unsecured bail.

• Brian T. McGrath, 23, of Colebrook, N.H., on a charge of operating under the influence, on July 16. He was released on $1,000 unsecured bail.

• Mark Penley, 34, of Peru, on charges of violation of a protective order and violation of conditions of release, on July 16. He was taken to Oxford County jail in Paris.

• Bobbie L. McKenna, 21, of Rumford, on a charge of operating after suspension, on July 16. She was released on $100 unsecured bail.

• Bruce R. Ross, 39, of Rumford, on a charge of violation of conditions of release, on July 15. He was taken to Oxford County jail.

• Sarah Delepine, 29, of Rumford, on a charge of operating under the influence, on July 14. She was released on $500 unsecured bail.

• Bruce Ross, 39, of Rumford, on charges of operating under the influence and operating after suspension, on July 12. He was released on $700 unsecured bail.

• Michael P. Moore, 20, of Rumford, on a warrant for failure to pay fines, on July 12. He was released on $100 cash bail.

The following are the be arraigned on Sept. 14 in Rumford District Court.

• Harry W. Hamner, 35, of Rumford, on a charge of domestic assault, on July 12. He was released on $600 unsecured bail.

• Richard J. Hamel, 65, of Mexico, on a charge of operating under the influence, on July 12. He was released on $50 cash bail.

• Leslie A. Miller, 39, of Rumford, on a charge of disorderly conduct, on July 9.

• A 14-year-old Rumford girl, on a charge of assault, on July 7.

• A 15-year-old Dexter girl, formerly of Rumford, on a charge of assault, on July 7.

• Ruth A. Labrecque, 43, of Rumford, on charges of operating under the influence and operating after suspension, on July 3. She is to be arraigned on Sept. 7 in Rumford District Court.
