OXFORD – Selectmen appointed deputy treasurer and tax collector Sharon Jackson to serve as interim town manager Thursday.
She’ll be paid $150 a week in addition to her regular hourly rate of $14.10.
“I’ll just keep things moving along the way they should be, and making sure that the manager’s duties get taken care of on a daily basis,” Jackson said Friday.
Town Manager Michael Huston is leaving July 28 to take a job as York County administrator. Selectmen, who have advertised statewide for his replacement, plan to take applications until Aug. 2.
Jackson has applied for the permanent position. Selectmen have been silent on their selection process after their decision not to appoint a citizen-based search committee.
Jackson also served as interim manager for four months before Huston was hired in February 2002. She has worked as deputy treasurer and tax collector for eight years. She moved to Oxford in 1982.
