FARMINGTON – SAD 9 directors are scheduled to set hot lunch prices and substitute teachers’ pay Tuesday.

The board will also consider Superintendent Michael Cormier’s recommendation to put $10,000 of the unspent balance for the Middle School construction project toward supporting the ball field projects.

A group of middle school parents is leading a campaign to raise money to build new athletic fields at the middle school. Franklin Savings Bank and Kyes Insurance have kicked in a total of $10,000 for the project.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Mount Blue High School library.

Cormier is recommending that breakfast prices for those that pay full price in grades seven through 12 be raised by 10 cents, from 60 cents to 70 cents, and from 75 cents to 85 cents for a second breakfast if students want it.

Cormier said he will also recommend increasing milk prices at all levels from 30 cents a carton to 35 cents a carton due to an increase in bid prices.

Lunch prices will stay the same for those who pay full price, at $1.25 for elementary students and $1.50 at the middle and high school. The lunch price for reduced-price lunch is 40 cents, and for reduced breakfast, 30 cents. Adult lunches are $2.75.

Cormier is also recommending that substitute pay for teachers be increased $5 per day, and that pay for secretaries and education technicians be increased to $7 an hour, 30 cents more than is now.

The increase in substitute teachers’ pay would go from $45 to $50 a day for those with a high school diploma; $50 to $55 a day for those with bachelor’s degrees; and from $55 to $60 for a certified teacher.
