AUGUSTA – The Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Association said a memorial walkway is being installed at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery off Civic Center Drive.

A walkway is in place at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery off Mount Vernon Road, but due to the many calls that were received, the Civic Center Drive cemetery will also have a walk.

Anyone wishing to purchase a brick or monument to place on either walkway to honor a loved one who served or is serving may do so by contacting Glenda at the cemetery at 287-3481 after 2 p.m. or Arthur J. Roy at 784-6883 or [email protected].

Many veterans groups are purchasing bricks and monuments to honor members who have died.

Association officers are Mike Clark, treasurer; Glenda Knowlan, secretary; Bert Lafrance, vice chairman; Arthur J. Roy, chairman; and David Richmond, director of cemeteries.
