PARIS – Jocelynn Heath, former coordinator of the ITV program for Oxford Hills Adult Education, was given flowers and a letter of appreciation Monday for her years of dedication to administering the second-largest site in the state.

Heath, who earned a bachelor’s degree through interactive television college courses and is now pursuing her master’s degree, held the position for 13 years. The South Paris woman has turned over the reins to Nikki Abbott, director of the University College at South Paris, which opened in May.

In a letter from Charles Lyons, vice chancellor of the University College, Heath was lauded for her “selfless and uncompromising dedication” to the program, which had been based at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

Lyons said the task of supporting distance learners “can be daunting” because of the need to keep the site open from early morning to late at night to accommodate the schedules of adult learners.

Heath had to handle a constant flow of questions and demands from 60 to 100 students and juggle several roles. She was also responsible for taping, storing and tracking videotapes of all courses. She also tutored students, and provided one of the university system’s few sites that did its own placement testing.
