My comment is directed to the article, “Priced out,” from July 11 and specifically a quote from Dana Drew.

“I’ll tell you what. People in the Lewiston-Auburn area are a lot nicer than people in Scarborough, because they are all from Massachusetts.”

While neither the editor or writer can be held accountable for the comments of an interviewee, the Sun Journal is certainly in control of what to quote in articles.

I wonder if Drew had made a negative generalization based on race, sex, sexual orientation or religion if the Sun Journal would have chosen to print that quote.

Shame on the Sun Journal. With a little effort, you could have furthered the image of the Lewiston-Auburn area as being a friendly place to live without demonstrating, and therefore furthering, an obvious prejudice against former citizens of Massachusetts.
