Republicans were at it again, thinking Americans are stupid.

Americans know Republicans’ attempt to pass legislation amending our Constitution to ban gay marriages was only a ploy trying to distract us from the real problems we have. Republicans’ Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson failed this time but will keep pushing for this amendment.

Gays work, pay taxes, are human beings and should have equal rights. Declaration of Independence quote: all men are created equal.

If the Republican senators don’t know that more than 50 percent of heterosexual marriages have ended in divorce, there has to be something wrong with that picture. Many of these family values people are even on their third, fourth and more marriages.

Other issues are far more important than the gay issue. This administration tells us jobs are coming back. What they don’t tell us is that the jobs coming back are menial, low-paying jobs that can’t support a small family. Many Americans have to work more than one job to break even.

President Bush twists everything to his liking. Every day, we hear that more American servicemen and women are being killed. As far as I’m concerned, not one of those lives is worth the whole country of Iraq, and Bush and his cronies should be ashamed to say our troops did not die in vain. It’s OK for them to say because their children are safe at home. Americans, it’s time for a regime change.
