OTISFIELD – Kathleen Dougherty of Otisfield was nominated Friday by the Oxford County Democrats to run for District 100 state representative.

She will face Republican Jim Hamper of Oxford in the Nov. 2 election.

The House seat is being vacated by Ted Heidrich, R-Oxford, who is prohibited from running again because of term limits.

Dougherty was nominated through a special caucus at Otisfield Town Hall because prior nominee David Ivey, an Oxford selectman, pulled out of the representative race in June. Ivey said he was withdrawing because of family responsibilities and a new job.

Cathy Newell, chairwoman of the Oxford County Democrats, said about 20 residents from Otisfield and Oxford attended the caucus.

Dougherty will officially announce her candidacy next week, Newell said.

District 100 comprises Oxford, Otisfield and Mechanic Falls.
