AUBURN – Charles and June Marshall of Auburn were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise party on June 19.

The celebration was hosted by their son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Sharon Marshall, at their home in Raymond and by their daughter, Brenda Hitchcock of Bar Harbor.

Grandchildren attending were Clint Marshall and his wife, Sue, and their son, Colby of Hermon, Elisabeth Marshall of Raymond, Kathryne Marshall of Westport, Mass., and Vaughn and Zeke Hitchcock of Bar Harbor.

Mrs Marshall’s elder sister, Esther Vaughn of Middleboro, Mass., was present, along with her son and his wife, Ron and Betty Vaughn of Middleboro, Mass.

Many close friends, including Richard and Crystal Briggs of Clearwater, Fla., joined the couple and enjoyed a buffet lunch and anniversary cake adorned with burgundy and peach flowers, made by Sharon Marshall.

The couple was presented with a money tree, cards, gifts and pink rose boutonniere and corsage made by Pat Valley of Oxford.

The couple was married on May 14, 1954, at the Auburn Advent Christian Church and have lived in the city since.

Mrs. Marshall graduated from Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing in 1948 and worked for the hospital many years. She also worked as a registered nurse consultant at Sarah Frye Home in Auburn before retiring.

Mr. Marshall graduated from Edward Little High School and worked as a teller and courier for Casco Bank. He has served as organist at the West Auburn United Church of Christ since 1945, Calvary Methodist Church in Lewiston since 1970 and the Advent Christian Campground in Mechanic Falls since 1933. This will be his 61st year there.
