LISBON FALLS – Gerhard “Eben” Carlson, 81, of Lincoln Street, Lisbon Falls, died at his home Saturday evening, July 24, with his family by his side.

Gerhard was born June 21, 1923, in Lisbon Falls, the son of George and Elsie Stanmore Reynolds. He was educated in Lisbon schools and was married to Jenny (Malawanchuk) Carlson. This August would have made their 58th wedding anniversary together.

He served his country during World War II, having served in the United States Army.

He worked for many years at the Worumbo Mill, U.S. Gypsum, and later retired from Bath Iron Works.

He was a member of the Lisbon Falls United Methodist Church in Lisbon Falls.

He was a volunteer fire fighter with the Lisbon Falls Fire Department, and was a Mason and Past Master of the Ancient York Lodge in Lisbon Falls. He was an avid outdoorsman where he had a great love for fishing. He enjoyed carpentry and many will remember him for his significant talents and contributions as a wonderful musician. He was talented playing the guitar, organ, piano, base violin, and accordion.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years this August, Jenny, of Lisbon Falls; one daughter, Lola Carlson of Bowdoin; two sons, John S. and his wife, Lorraine, of Bellerica, Mass., and Gary G. and his wife, Shirley, of Desoto Texas; five grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Reynolds of Lisbon Falls.
