FRYEBURG – The Fryeburg Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at the American Legion Hall on Bradley Street. Refreshments will be served. Tommy Hutchins will present a program, “Growing up in Fryeburg.” For information, contact Director Nancy Ray at 935-4192.

New support group

BRIDGTON – Susan Rivet, RN, manager of the Bridgton Hospital Oncology Clinic, announces the establishment of a cancer support group for cancer survivors, adult family members and the community.

The group will hold its first meeting from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, in the community meeting room at Norway Savings Bank. The group plans to meet every other Thursday.

Bridgton Hospital employee health coordinator, Susan Cooper, RN, and Rivet will facilitate discussion. They are planning monthly speakers as well. For details, contact Rivet at 647-6120.

Planning picnic

WOODSTOCK – The Woodstock Historical Society’s flea market was held July 10.

About 60 people signed the guest book. Annella Burnham set up a food sale, and Vicki May organized the event.

In the evening Kathleen Brown supplied a video on Vermont called “Let’s Go to the Farm,” showing everything from milking to harvesting. Ruth Cox gave a research report on “The Vets in the Cemetery.”

The next meeting will be the annual picnic at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the museum.
