LIVERMORE – Billie Gammon, Livermore’s resident storyteller, will share her memories about North Livermore residents of the 1930s on Thursday, July 29, at the North Livermore Baptist Church. She will be joined by neighborhood friends, Mildred (Hinkley) Wright, Gertrude (Bisbee) Clardy, Ernest E. Hinkley Jr. and Clifford Tenney.

Gammon’s storytelling will be the program during her 88th birthday party presented by a committee of friends. Birthday cake and punch will be served at 6:30 p.m. in the church basement.

Following refreshments, Gammon will share her memories at 7 p.m. upstairs.

In 2001, she remembered her first year (1935) in Livermore, teaching at the Payson Smith School and boarding with the Babb family. In 2002 she recalled North Livermore as it was in 1941 during World Ward II.

Last year, she and her four senior friends remembered four buildings in the village: the ttwo-room Payson Smith School, Tenney’s general store and post office, Coolidge Hall and the North Livermore Baptist Church. Their memories also recalled the Long Pond Cabins and lunch room and Dr. Rand’s Golf Course.

The birthday committee suggests that guests bring a handwritten note for Gammon in lieu of gifts and printed cards. Donations toward the cake, punch and expenses may be made at the party.
