LIVERMORE FALLS – Police charged three people in connection with separate assaults.

Mark Titus, 33, of Jay was charged Saturday after a man flagged down officer Maurice Drouin and told him he had been assaulted, Livermore Falls Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said.

The victim had been sitting in his vehicle at 5 Haines Corner Road when the assault allegedly happened, Steward said.

Titus was arrested on a warrant for unpaid fines and Drouin charged him with assault, the chief said.

On Friday, a mother called police from a cell phone as she was rushing home to Globe Street to report that her children were fighting, and one had been stabbed, Steward said.

Upon arrival, police learned that a 14-year-old girl had allegedly stabbed her brother with a knife. It was a superficial wound, he said.

The girl had allegedly put glue on her brother, and the brother picked up a shovel and started slapping her with it, Steward said. The girl took the shovel away and went in and got a knife, he said.

She was charged with aggravated assault, he said.

In another incident, police arrested Marie Towers, 24, of Rome. It was the second time in a week that police arrested her.

Towers was arrested Monday after police responded to complaints of people fighting Sunday night at Pine Ridge Loop, Steward said.

People took off into the woods running and police caught up with Towers, who was accused of attacking a juvenile at the scene, Steward said.

Towers was also charged last week after her vehicle was stopped for allegedly speeding.

Officer Maurice Drouin charged her with assault on an officer, refusing to provide name and address, no insurance, operating after suspension, no seat belt and refusing to submit to arrest.

Steward said Towers allegedly physically grabbed Towers during the incident, and the two ended up rolling down an embankment.

Drouin had to use pepper spray to calm her down, Steward said.
