Smith-Tobey 6, Gayton 1

LEWISTON – John Tefft tossed a four-hitter and helped break the game open with a two-run triple in the sixth inning to lead Smith-Tobey of Bath to a 6-1 victory over Gayton.

It is the second time that Smith-Tobey has upset Gayton.

The visitors scored twice in the first, but Gayton (12-9) cut the lead in half in the fourth when Tyler Turgeon tripled and scored on Jack Lavoie’s fielder’s choice.

Smith-Tobey (10-11) took advantage of one of Gayton’s six errors to put the game away in the sixth. With one out and a runner on first, Gayton booted a potential inning-ending double play. Tefft followed with his two-run triple to ignite the four-run outburst.
